A solution for all case erecting projects

To meet requirements in terms of speed increase, in particular due to the reduction in size of sales units, as well as customers’ layout constraints, Cermex finalised two new developments early 2007, beyond its traditional case erector.

ORIGIN OF THE DEVELOPMENT

Based on the success of 900 case erectors sold worldwide, Cermex has once again made the most of special partnerships with its customers to develop new solutions meeting the market’s ever more demanding requirements in terms of flexibility, layout and speed.

The reduction in size of sales units, the increase in speeds as well as layout constraints prompted Cermex to innovate in order to meet the requirements of its customers, particularly in the home & personal care and the wine & spirits industries.

1) F388 CASE ERECTOR

a) Main adaptations

  • Installation of servo-motors instead of the elements initially used which were:
- pneumatic: for the extraction/forming and pressing operations
- mechanical: for the case transfer operation

As an option, an approximate 20% reduction in the machine transfer level and the height of the case magazine to facilitate operator intervention and magazine loading at a new level of 1055mm.

b) Advantages

  • A single machine instead of two machines previously
  • Positive case erection in two movements: extraction then forming (no forming on the move)
  • Unlimited number of product formats
  • Access to the data for each servo-motor directly from the control panel, enabling more accurate and repeatable adjustments for each format changeover
  • Reduction in noise level by replacing the pneumatic elements
  • Speed: up to 50 cases per minute thanks to the servo-motorisation (whereas the previous F38 model reached a maximum speed of 38 cases per minute)

2) TWIN ERECTOR

a) Main adaptations

  • Parallel combination of two forming solutions within the same frame with two magazines, two extraction stations, two forming stations and two pressing/gluing stations
  • Possible to handle either 6-count cases on two lanes or 12-count cases on a single lane
  • Integration of servo-drives for the perfect synchronisation of the two case infeeds enabling outfeed on a single lane

b) Advantages

  • A single machine instead of two previously: compact footprint and fewer layout constraints
  • Possible to run on a single lane to handle cases with larger dimensions
  • Reliability and accuracy in format settings, thanks to the easy configuration of the servo-motors via the control panel.
